Active shootings/person with a weapon at schools or in the workplace incidents are on the rise.  These incidents are often unpredictable and evolve quickly.  In the midst of the mayhem anyone can play an integral role in preventing and/or mitigating the impacts from a tragic incident, if they know what to do.  Many times, these incidents are over before law enforcement arrives, so knowing what to do can save lives in a matter of seconds.
